Circularem Vitare – Kristmundur Þ. Gíslason
Kristmundur was born in Keflavík, Iceland, 1969 but grew up in the Búland area in Fossvogur, Reykjavik. After getting basic education in arts in Iceland, the course was taken to North-California where he studied in Cupertino, Sunnyvale and Freemont for two years.
After winning a competition among art students in the summer of 1986, a group exhibition was held among those who were nominated in Euphrat gallery in De Anza in Cupertino. This was his first group exhibition. Kristmundur returned home to Iceland in 1987 and has since then held art exhibitions on regular basis.
Kristmundur paintings have been phrased for clarity and unusual usage of colors and have been sold abroad and to public institutions, among them to Stapi Pension Fund and to The National Land Survey of Iceland.
